I had read that women of the era were the ones complaining of the atrocious horns of the early phonographs necessitating Victor and Columbia to bring the horn into the machine. This lamp is the ultimate realization of that idea. Not my taste in decor but I can understand some desperate husband wanting a phonograph and having to keep harmony in the household.

That 6 inch will play on a Columbia 20th Century machine

They are good but they do suffer from shrinkage i have some of the Edison Bell celluloid cylinders and Edison Bell stopped making them because of that reason. I would like to have those pink Lambert cylinders but they can be quite expensive because of there rarity. Thankyou for showing them😊😊😊

I think this company also made a machine that copied Edisons' Amberola, and Edison sued , and put this company out of business

Celluloid cylinders are, and were the best ones made, because they have survived all these years, and will probably be around for another 100 hundred years or more

I have seen pictures of cylinder machines with tone-arms before, rather interesting features

I think that the vertical record had a disadvantage because the volume levels were lacking, the volume on some were not very loud

I noticed solder on the fly of the governor. It is supposed to be a friction fit to the shaft and only move slightly under pressure. The solder was a misguided repair attempt and that is why it is going so fast. These videos are wonderful and I thank you for documenting these items.

The cylinder is in French and seems to be Charlus, a singer who worked for Pathe. Its a funny song not what you would expect from Bettini.

The most impressive thing about the Thorens is the case and packing. I have a Peter Pan which works fine except the platter which belongs to a copycat and thus, doesn't fit perfectly. It's a novelty and I am glad I have it. Thanks for showing your Thorens.

You are really supposed to put a second record below the record you are playing. That helps stabilize the record being played. That is from the directions that came with the machine. I find they play much better that way on mine.

I am glad I discovered your channel as you have a wonderful, diverse selection of machines and technologies to present. I have resisted buying an Edison phonograph but the B-60 looks like one I could enjoy if room permitted. Now I must find the Edison record manufacturing you mentioned.
